Easter Weekend 2011

We started Easter off on Saturday with Matt's family. We were going to do it at Melissa's house but with the weather being so cold we decided to move it to Matt's school. It worked out so well. The kids were able to ride around on their scooters and run around without being cold. Matt's brothers taught the little kids how to play kickball first.

Then we did the Easter hunt in the gym. I thought Dre would understand how to find an egg and put it in a basket. Ya, not so much! When he found the eggs he wanted to hold them and run around with them. When I told him to put them in the basket he got mad and threw the eggs. Well, since there was candy in the eggs and he found the candy he started doing that with every egg he found. He would pick it up and throw it to get the candy out. It was pretty clever, but not what I had hoped for:(

once he discovered he could throw the eggs and candy would come out.

Then we had ice cream pie that Melissa made. The girls mostly just talked and watched all the action. It was a great way to celebrate Easter.

On Sunday I was so tired on Saturday night that I didn't get Dre's Easter basket done. He woke up and I went and got him out of his crib. Matt was like are you not going to get his stuff ready. So I had to leave him with Matt real quick and go get it done. Dre got away and came in early so it was all a little messed up. We got him a lawn mower that blows bubbles, but it didn't work so that kind of sucked. He was mostly interested in the candy, but not eating it just carrying it around. He is not that into sweets, which is kind of nice.

The it was time for church. This is Dre in his Sunday best

Then we headed over to my parents house. My mom gave a nice little Easter scripture and then we had a nice ham an potato meal. They didn't have any Easter hunt or anything, but my dad needed help with the fourwheeler and trailer so I decided to take Dre for a quick ride. He loved it! My mom gave Dre a plastic sword and a patio chair. It was so funny because Dre knows exactly what to do with a sword and he started wailing on my dad. It was hilarious to watch cause my dad was getting into it and Dre was laughing. I love those moments!

I had to throw this pic in cause I love Tessa's face. Give a few more months and these two should be playing around!

You need to teach him while he's young to push kids out of the way to get the eggs. My kids never learned that and therefore never got a lot of eggs at the Santaquin egg hunt.
