Jordan's story

Jordan Downs entered our world on Sept. 26th at 2:16pm. He weighed 7.7lbs and was 19 1/2 in long. Here is his story. I was scheduled to be induced on the 26th at 7:00am. We dropped Dre off at Sunni's since she lives right by the hospital. We got to the hospital and they got us right in and got me going. They broke my water and started me on potossin.
It was slow going most of the day. I didn't get my epidural right away. I waited until the pain started to really kick in. So that was around 11. Matt and I just watched tv or rested. Then around 1:00 things picked up a little. I started to dilate faster. By 2:00 I had gone from a 5 to a 10 in like 5 minutes. So luckily the doctor was there to check on patients anyways. The lady next to me was getting ready to deliver too and we had the same doctor. So He came to me first and I did one push and he got called over the intercom to come to the next room asap so he left me. As soon as he left Jordan's heart rate dropped. I had to do oxygen to get it back up. We decided not to push any more until the doctor came back. He took a little bit so we did one more push and Jordan's heart rate dropped again. When the doctor came back in the nurse told him what was happening and he didn't mess around. He said that we needed to get the baby out in 2 or 3 minutes or we would have to do an emergency c-section. They got the vacuum and told me to push. Well the epidural was working so good that I could not feel anything and I didn't feel like I was pushing the right way so I started to freak out. The nurse assured me that I was doing fine but I was really scared that he wouldn't come out soon enough. But within a couple pushes they had him out. He cried right away but as they got him over to the bed to clean him he started to do a grunting noise. They hurried and called the respitory therapy and they said they needed to take him to the nursery right away. I held him for like 30 seconds before they took him and Matt to the nursery.
I didn't really understand what was going on and I totally freaked. The nurses tried to assure me that it was ok and that it happens often, but it still scared me so bad. I was left in the delivery room by myself. Luckily Kelli could run over real quick and sit with me for a little bit. In the nursery they hooked him up to the oxygen machine and hooked him up to all this other stuff. They tried to get an iv in him but couldn't so he had all these little poke holes. They cleaned out his stomach and it had a little blood in it so they thought it could be internal but they couldn't find anything internal so they thought he just swollowed some of the placenta. Matt said it was a good thing I was not down there watching everything because it was so hard to watch.
A little over 2 hours later Matt brought him into our room. Then Matt went to get Dre. It was such a special moment when Dre came in and saw his brother. It was a little overwhelming given what had just happened. Dre was so sweet and was so excited to see him and me.
Baby Jordan also brought Dre a present. He was so excited. He got 3 look and find superhero books. And the moment I was waiting for...Dre holding his little brother.
The next morning they brought the baby to me and they told me that they had just sucked a few more militers of amniotic fluid out again. Then later that day we were holding him and he was shaking a little weird. I told the nurses and they took him back and checked his blood sugar and it was low. All these little things that were happening to him made me so nervous to take him home. I asked Matt and his dad to give me a blessing later that night because I was so nervous. We got to bring Jordan home on Saturday. We had to wait until Jordan peed after his circumcision. As soon as he did that we left. We took a family picture and a picture of the first car ride as a family of 4.
