It's official! Dre is off the binky! He calls it his "B", but it's gone. On Friday night I cut the tip off and gave it to him. He sucked it for a second, pulled it out and looked at it. And this was our conversation:
me: what's wrong, is it broke?
Dre: it's broke?
me: yep it's broke, let's throw it away. In the garbage. Dre follows me to the garbage and puts it in.
me: "B" all gone! It's broke!
Dre: looks at Matt and says it's broke
Matt: yep it's broke
Dre has understood the word broke for awhile now, so I thought this would be the best for him to understand. He is on day 4 of no "B" and he is doing great. He has asked for it a couple times and I just remind him that it's broke and he goes right down. His naps are little harder. He just talks for like a half and hour in his bed, but eventually falls asleep. He still has his blanket, so I think that helped with the transition. In a way it's a little sad because that means my little baby is growing up. He is such a big kid now. I'm glad to be done with it though. It was getting a little annoying!
Since we are on the topic of my son maybe I will do a quick update. Dre is so awesome. We tell him all the time how smart he is so his new thing is to say "I'm smart". He will sing his ABC's with you, the Barney song "I Love You", and really any song you start to sing he will try to copy. He knows most of his letters and sounds they make. He loves to do chants, so we make them up and he will chant with us. He tells us he loves us "uv eww". The second I get home from work he grabs my hand and takes me to his toys and he pulls my hand so I have to sit down and play with him. He does this all night. I spend the 3 hours I have with him playing on the floor. I love that he wants to play with me, but sometimes I need to get other things done (like dinner). Matt just reminds me how much Dre must love me to want me to play with him, so I need to remember that. He is fine playing by himself, but would much rather us play on the floor with him. He loves to color. He will sit and color forever. He just gets more and more fun and we love him!!!!
