stupid fire alarm
So we had an eventful Friday night. Around 10 pm our fire alarm started chirping. I thought ok just change the battery. I had to run to the store to buy one. While I was gone the old battery was out, and Matt said that it was still chirping. I found that odd because there was no battery, but whatever. So i put the new battery in and it still chirped. After like an hour of trying to figure it out we decided to call the non emergency fire dept. I spoke with a lady in a very calm matter and just asked what she thought we should do. She gave a few suggestions, none of which worked. Then she said that she could send someone out to help. I thought ok why not since there was no way I was going to be able to sleep with that chirping. Not more than 5 or 10 min later we hear sirens coming. I said to Matt that better not be coming to our house. Oh they did. A fire truck and ambulance! How embarrassing is that! They totally got out with their tanks and gear and started monitoring our building. I really don't understand what the lady told them that would make them act this way. They were going around with a carbon monoxide machine and there was like 6 of them. I felt so stupid. I know I told the lady that the carbon monoxide was not going off but whatever. So then I explain to the firefighters that it's really just my fire alarm not working. They tried to figure it out. Then all the sudden they were like is there another alarm around this one. I didn't think so but I opened our spare bedroom and saw that there was one in there. Then I felt even more stupid because now we thought it was that one that was chirping. We changed that battery and still chirping. We finally figured that it was the original one that was having issues. They had it totally detached from all power and battery and it still chirped. It was just a faulty alarm. I felt really silly for having them all come but I don't think I would have ever figured it out with out there help so whatever. No more chirping!

Oh my goodness!!! That is hilarious:) I laughed right out loud when I was reading it. I can't believe they sent the fire crew out with sirens blaring...kind of funny though:)...glad it wasn't me:)
Wow! Exciting. We were in a hotel once and the fire alarm went off. It was so loud and like 2 in the morniing. They couldn't get it to turn off and it was so loud we had to all go out front and wait. It was pouring rain. Margot was like 3 months old. The fire department had to come and check the building, and finally about 1 1/2 hours later they were able to let us go back in. I will never forgot that!
I was totally laughing too ... do you remember when the fire alarm in our apartment was churping and we went crazy too and went and bought batteries ... called scott and complained only to find out it was the carbon monoxide.
Blame it on pregnancy ... but how come Matt didn't think of the other alarm
oh and there's a friends episode about that too (only you and me would be able to relate everything in life to a friends episode) but remember Phoebe wrapps it in a blanket with her name on it ...
That is so funny. I love that they came with sirens and all of that. How embarrassing but I'm glad they were able to help you figure it out! :)
That's too funny that the firemen came. We have issues with our fire alarm. For some reason the TV remote makes it go off whenever we use it. We just unplugged it! Not the safest thing.. but oh well!! Glad you got yours resolved!
That is Hillarious!!! You should have taken pictures to post. Our alarm goes off everytime we make pancakes, so Gavin always hides in his room when I pull out the griddle. :)
That is hilarious Brooke!
Crazy!! This happened to us once; so I ripped it off the wall and hid it in a box, under some blankets, in our closet. At least you solved the problem instead of burying it.
